Together, we are shaping the future of democracy. </p> <p><strong>THE OPPORTUNITY</strong></p> <p>As a Software Engineer II you will build new features that enable our platform to support traditional and emerging fundraising methods. In this role, you will work full-stack using React, TypeScript, REST, and Ruby on Rails. The work you do on this team will be seen and felt by thousands of users across the country and the world. </p> <p>Our engineering and product organization is composed of empathetic and passionate people. We’re organized into cross-functional teams that operate independently in alignment with the broader organizational goals. </p> <p><strong>WHAT YOU WILL DO</strong></p> <ul> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Implement and deliver small to medium-sized projects that span a few sprints.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Collaborate with software engineers, product teams, and design teams to develop new features for donors and fundraising entities of all sizes.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Break down work and estimate effort for smaller projects with some ambiguity; engage in scoping discussions to help build clarity and assess feasibility.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Design products and systems with performance in mind so all users have a great experience on our platform.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Work across the stack using React, TypeScript, and Ruby on Rails.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Improve platform performance and maintainability through quality code, testing, monitoring, and documentation.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Ensure product and feature quality through thorough PR reviews and QA testing. Provide thoughtful constructive feedback in code reviews and other collaborative settings.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Engage with and contribute to technical discussions around new solutions and architecture.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Consistently maintain a reasonable pace of delivery; independently prioritize your day-to-day work.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Communicate work status effectively and escalate blockers quickly to your team; communicate with other engineering teams or stakeholders as needed.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Seek and incorporate feedback on your approach and execution from colleagues with complementary technical expertise.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">May provide guidance and training to other members of the team.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Grow as an individual and increase your impact on the success of your team and the progressive movement with the support of your manager. Develop a well-rounded skillset through feedback and mentorship from other team members and your manager.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture aligned with our values. </li> </ul> <p><strong>WHAT YOU BRING</strong></p> <ul> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">2-4 years of professional experience working as a team member and delivering projects.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Professional development experience with React and Ruby on Rails. </li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">A track record of delivering timely, high-quality features while collaborating with product and design to resolve ambiguity and prioritize high-impact work.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Ability to break down work and estimate effort for smaller projects with some ambiguity.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">A demonstrated ability to write extensible, maintainable, and scalable code.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">Expertise and creativity when it comes to delivering value fast, with a focus on MVPs, frequent deployments, scope negotiations, and demos.</li> <li class="whitespace-normal break-words">A strong sense of ownership and accountability. You care about helping your team deliver their roadmap and achieve the strategic outcomes of the work. Travel may be required on a limited basis to attend all-staff and departmental retreats (1-2 times per year). Our roles require extended technology usage, and proficiency with virtual communication tools such as Zoom and Slack. Regular attendance in virtual meetings is inherent to every position.</p> <p><strong>Salary Range Details:</strong> $136,611 - $151,437 - $166,263</p> <p>ActBlue is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization.
