Capgemini is a global business and technology transformation partner, seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to ensure the safety, reliability, and compliance of their autonomous robotic vehicles. This role involves identifying hazards, defining safety requirements, and collaborating with engineering teams to integrate safety into the product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Lead functional safety activities across the product lifecycle, from concept through production and post-deployment
Conduct hazard analysis and risk assessments using methodologies such as STPA, FMEA, and FTA
Define and manage functional safety requirements, ensuring traceability and compliance
Support development of safety concepts, architectures, and safety cases
Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware teams to integrate safety into designs
Drive implementation and verification of risk mitigation measures
Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or relevant domain-specific standards)
Prepare and present safety analyses, reports, and documentation for leadership, customers, and regulatory bodies
Lead safety reviews, audits, and cross-functional discussions
Mentor junior engineers and influence stakeholders on safety best practices
Skills
8–12 years of experience in functional safety engineering
Experience in one or more domains: Autonomous systems / robotics, Automotive, Mining / heavy equipment, Agricultural machinery
Strong knowledge of functional safety standards and lifecycle processes
Expertise in risk assessment techniques (STPA, FMEA, FTA)
Understanding of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL/ASIL)
