Description School Nurse (Early Learning Center) Position Summary V-Tech Solutions, Inc., is seeking a DC Department of Health licensed registered nurse to provide comprehensive health services for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (ages 6 weeks - 5 years) in an inclusive early childhood education environment.
The nurse ensures student health, safety, regulatory compliance, family and staff education across our client's Early Learning and Early Intervention programs.
Duties & Responsibilities Health Screenings & Compliance • Conduct required screenings (vision, hearing, etc.). • Monitor immunizations, TB tests, lead levels, dental/medical certificates. • Run compliance reports to meet DC Department Of Health (DC DOH), Office of State Superintendent, Center for Disease Control, and Child and Adult Care Food Program requirements.
Direct Nursing Care & Medication Administration • Provide nursing care with Early Intervention Nursing Policies. • Implement physician orders for medications and treatments. • Securely store medications and medical equipment. • Review and manage Medical Action Plans and ensure proper medication protocols.
Documentation & Data Management • Maintain accurate health records, medication logs, and required forms. • Ensure documentation meets all DC regulatory and program standards.
Family & Staff Education • Develop communicable disease notices and health communication templates. • Train staff and families on medical action plans, dietary needs, and child-specific health concerns.
Health & Safety Leadership • Promote health education and disease prevention. • Support safe learning environments and respond to health-related concerns. • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and early intervention specialists.
Qualifications • Registered Nurse (RN) license (DC DOH). • Experience in pediatric, early childhood, or school-based nursing preferred. • Strong documentation, communication, and family engagement skills. • Ability to manage emergencies and chronic health conditions.
Schedule & Location •
Location: Southeast, Washington, DC • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-4:30 PM (one late day: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM) Compensation Annual Salary Range: $74,800-$81,000 Ideal Candidate Profile A strong School Nurse candidate is detail-oriented, compliance-driven, skilled in pediatric care, compassionate with families, and effective in diverse environments.
